Why do College Students Drunk so Much?   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã¢â‚¬Å"Alcohol abuse on college campuses has reached a point where it is far more destructive than most people and today realize and today threatens too many of our youth.† -Senator Joe Lieberman   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Why do college students drink so much? This timeless fad has effected this generation in high percentages since the beginning of college education. Today in America it is estimated that approximately 29% of college students are regular alcohol abusers. Another recent study by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism performed showed that college students suffered 1,400 deaths, 70,000 date rapes and assaults, and 500,000 injuries each year as a result of alcohol. (McDonald) Although binge drinking (5+ drinks in one sitting) is considered a normal part of the college experience many factors contribute to whether or not an individual is more prone to be an abuser.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  There are five factors that connect students with alcohol abuse with include: gender, family alcohol abuse, family depression and mental illness, childhood hyperactivity, and deviant behavior before age 15. Deviant behavior, for example, consists of acts such as being expelled from school, fighting, committing vandalism, chronic lying, and stealing. Many people who were antisocial growing up begin drinking abusively earlier in adolescence.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  A clinician test given to suspected alcoholics or taken personally is called the Diagnostic Interview Schedule (DIS). The test given to check for pathological alcohol abuse is known as Criterion A for alcohol abuse. Requirements for this test include: wanting to stop drinking but could not, drinking 20 or more drinks in 1 day, having blackouts while drinking, going on two or more binges, continuing to drink with a serious health problem, or making rules to control drinking habits. (Fleming)   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Criterion B covers more serious abuse which harm one’s personal and occupational lifestyles. Any one of the following items point to serious abuse: family members objecting to subject’s drinking, professional advice about drinking, job or school troubles due to drinking, accident while driving intoxicated, arrest, or physical fight. (Fleming)   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  A report from the University of Richmond told a story about a female college freshman who experienced a horrible situation after a night of drinking. It said that she remembered how hard it was to leave behind her family and friends, she remembered having to face the fact that she was a freshman again and how all she wanted was to be well-liked and to fit-in but one thing she does not remember at all is the night she was raped by two freshman males in a room full of people.

This demand by his father scared him and he went crying straight to his mother. Her heart melted at the sight of tears in her son’s eyes. She grew restless. In a bid to help him she gave him a gold coin. In the evening when the father asked his son what he had earned, the son promptly presented him the gold coin. The father then asked him to throw it into a well. The son did as he was told. The father was a man of wisdom and experience and guessed that the source of the gold coin was the boy’s mother. The next day he sent his wife to her parent’s town and asked his son to go and earn something with the threat of being denied the night meals if he failed. This time he went crying to his sister who sympathized with him and gave him a rupee coin out of her own savings. When his father asked him what he had earned the boy tossed the rupee coin at him. The father again asked him to throw it in a well. The son did it quite readily. Again the father’s wisdom told him that the rupee coin was not earned by his son. He then sent his daughter to her in-laws’ house. He again asked his son to go out and earn with the threat that he shall not have anything for dinner that night. This time since there was no one to help him out; the son was forced to go to the market in search of work. One of the shopkeepers there told him that he would pay him two rupees if he carried his trunk to his house. The rich man’s son could not refuse and was drenched in sweat by the time he finished the job. His feet were trembling and his neck and back were aching. There were rashes on his back. As he returned home and produced the two rupee note before his father and was asked to throw it into the well, the horrified son almost cried out. He could not imagine throwing his hard-earned money like this. He said amid sobbing: â€Å"Father! My entire body is aching. My back has rashes and you are asking me to throw the money into the well.† At this the businessman smiled. He told him that one feels the pain only when the fruits of hard labour are wasted. On earlier two occasions he was helped by his mother and sister and therefore had no pain in throwing the coins into the well. The son had now realized the value of hard work. He vowed never to be lazy and safe keep the father’s wealth. The father handed over the keys of his shop to the son and promised to guide him through the rest of the life.

The opinions of the workers about the introduction of online gaming, the nature of work place environment were asked with the help of questionnaire. The data is collected by the method of stratified sampling. The companies where online gamings are used are of different types small, medium and large. The strata are made on the basis of size of the company. The data are then collected by selecting a few organizations from each of these strata. There are many steps in doing a research. The first step is to collect the data. The data for this research work is mainly of primary type. The data is collected with the help of a research questionnaire. The questionnaire contains questions about the average wage of each employee, the working hours of the employee, the workload pressure of the employee, the opinion of the employees regarding introduction of online gaming, the workplace environment and others. The objective of doing this research is to understand the effectiveness of online gaming in workplace and improvement of the workers by the introduction of online gaming. Data collection: The data collected for the research is primary data. The data is collected by the help of stratified sampling. The different company where online gaming is practiced is divided into many strata according to size. The sizes are mainly determined based on revenues generated by the companies. Then data is collected from a few selected companies from each of the strata. The data has been collected by sending the questionnaire by online mail to the employers of the organization. More or less the entire country has to be covered in order to get proper estimates from the data. Data analysis: The data so collected can be analyzed with the help of different data analysis tools like descriptive statistics measures. The mean, median values of central tendency can be calculated to get an idea about the average figures. A regression study can also be done in order to know the opinion of the workers about online gaming. The outcome of the introduction of online gaming is to improve the productivity from the workers. Therefore a regression study can be conducted by taking the opinion of workers about the process, workplace environment and others as dependent variables and the productivity from workers as dependent variable. Expected research outcome: The measures of descriptive statistics will help to reveal the opinion of the workers about online gaming. The regression study will help to understand whether there is any effect in the productivity form workers by the introduction of online gaming. The significant value of the regression coefficient will indicate that the online gaming has an influence in production. Conclusion: In this assignment, the effectiveness of using online games in the workplace is being studied. The description of the methods of data collection and analysis of the data are given in the assignment. The possible interpretation of the results of analysis is also given in this assignment.
